Alstom has signed a memorandum of understanding with Africa Finance Corp. (AFC) to collaborate on the development of the 300 km MetroKin urban rail project in Kinshasa. The project follows an agreement between AFC and Trans Connexion Congo to develop a four-phase mass transit system. The first phase involves the construction of a line from Kinshasa Central Station to N'Djili International Airport, using part of the existing railway line with a gauge of 1,067 mm. AFC has committed an initial investment of €2.8 million (US$3 million) to advance the project to financial close.
