FTA subsidises 8 modernisation projects for stations with €320 million

The US Federal Transit Administration (FTA) will subsidise eight projects to modernise train stations and other transit stations with around €320 million (US$343 million) in federal funds. The funding is through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and was awarded under the All Stations Accessibility Programme (ASAP). The grants will be used to make stations accessible and bring them up to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards by installing lifts, renovating platforms for level boarding, and improving signage, as well as visual and audible systems. The operators selected for ASAP funds include the MTA in New York for five stations, NJ Transit for the Brick Church station, MBTA for a total of 14 stations along the Green Line in Boston, the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority for eight stations along the Blue Line, the Pittsburgh Regional Transit System for ten stations along the Red Line, the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority for the stations along the St. Charles Streetcar light rail transit (LRT) line, the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) for eight stations along the J-Church and M-Ocean View lines, as well as the Maryland Transit Administration for the College Park MARC station on the Camden Line.
