Systra and Typsa to design Merced –Bakersfield HSR section

The California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) has awarded a joint venture (JV) of Systra and Typsa a contract worth around €122 million (US$131.2 million) to design the track and overhead contact system for the first section of the state's planned high-speed rail (HSR) network. Under the contract, the JV will provide designs for track and catenary on the 273.6 km section from Merced to Bakersfield and detailed designs for the 190.4 km currently under construction. This includes track-side cable lines, ducts under the tracks, access roads, fencing, and drainage. Systra and Typsa will also manage technical and non-technical interfaces with other contractors and consultants, including the future general contractor who will be tasked with laying the tracks and constructing the overhead lines based on their designs.
