British Steel has won a contract to supply rails for the project to modernise and electrify the 286 km Mersin – Adana – Gaziantep high-speed rail (HSR) line. The agreement covers the delivery of more than 10,000 t of rails and is worth several million euros. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2024. The modernisation project will be carried out by Rönesans Holding. The UK export credit agency UK Export Finance has pledged financing totalling €781 million to support the project. In return, a commitment has been made to create export opportunities for UK suppliers.
