Government approves metro projects worth €3.2 billion

The Indian cabinet has approved metro projects worth €3.2 billion (INR 300 billion) in Bengaluru, Pune, and Thane. In Bengaluru, two new lines will be built in phase 3 of the metro project, the 32 km long JP Nagar – Kempapura line with 21 stops and the 12.5 km long Hosahalli – Kabadgere line with nine stops. The Pune Metro will be extended by 5.46 km to connect the multimodal centre of Swargate. Thane will receive a ring line to connect important commercial areas at a cost of €1.13 billion.
