Korail wins consultancy contract for Dushanbe project

South Korean state railway Korail has been awarded a contract to conduct a preliminary study for the construction and operation of an urban railway system in Tajikistan's capital Dushanbe, based on a 2022 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Korail and the Tajikistan Ministry of Transport. The aim is to conduct an assessment of the local railway infrastructure by June 2024 and share Korail's experience in building urban railways in Korea with Tajik partners and policymakers. Woosong University and the consulting company Daehan Consultants are also involved in the preliminary study, which is being conducted by the South Korean Ministry of Strategy and Finance and the Export-Import Bank of Korea as part of the Knowledge Sharing Programme (KSP).
