SRT approves second phase of Bangkok – Nong Khai HSR line

The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has approved the second phase of the Thai Chinese high-speed rail (HSR) line from Nakhon Ratchasima to Nong Khai. According to media reports, the construction of the 357 km line is expected to cost €8.65 billion (THB 341.35 billion). The project is a partnership between the Thai and Chinese governments to build a 610 km HSR line between Bangkok and Nong Khai. The 253 km first phase cost €4.85 billion. Contracts for this were signed with the China Railway Engineering Corporation (CREC) and the China Railway Design Corporation (CRDC) in 2021.
