Test run on maglev line in Yanggao completed

A magnetic levitation (maglev) train has successfully completed a 2 km demonstration run on a maglev track in Yanggao in the province of Shanxi in northern China. The speed reached was not disclosed, but the vehicle is designed to reach speeds of up to 1,000 km/h. This was the first full test of the maglev line, which was jointly developed by the China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC) and Shanxi. The test took place in a low-vacuum tube, with the vehicle maintaining a stable ride and stopping safely. The results showed that the vehicle's speed and height above the rail were as predicted. Construction of the test facility began in 2022 and the next phase of development is now expected to include full-speed test runs, which will require a test track of at least 60 km in length.
