Government approves new infrastructure projects for 2027-2029

The Swedish government has approved three infrastructure projects that are due to start between 2027 and 2029. The projects include increasing the capacity of the rail freight transport line through Bergslagen between Mjölby in Östergötland and Storvik in Gästrikland and the electrification and construction of a new line between Älmhult, Olofström, and Blekinge kustbana. The decision followed an instruction from the government to the Swedish Transport Administration Trafikverket. Trafikverket was to prepare new documentation for a number of projects that had experienced cost increases. After reviewing the documents, the government has now decided that Trafikverket can prepare the above-mentioned investment projects.
